Artist's Statement

My love of Life and People is reflected in my paintings of figures and places. The settings plus the interactions and relationships between individuals, families, friends both two legged and four legged, and strangers intrigue and delight me. Individuals and groups engaged in work and play, exploration or contemplation, observation or just plain fun in the midst of the quiet of beaches or the chatter of a cafe shape the forms of life.

The ever changing light on space and color, plus the relationships between them are my inspiration and my teachers. I am constantly learning something new. It is my passion to work with brush and paint and canvas to reflect on this world.

About Skip

A native Californian, Skip Andreae has always been making art in one medium or another. As a young child her favorite Christmas gift was an extra large, brand new box of crayons “with all of the points on”. Drawing and painting from an early age, her focus for the past ten years has been plein aire and studio paintings in oil.

A Bachelor of Fine Art and post graduate work at Center for Creative Studies, Detroit, MI lead to painting, fabric design and fabrication, graphic design, and interior design. While living in the midwest her paintings were shown in the BBAA Gallery and the Detroit Artists Market. Upon return to CA, she began a focused study of the human figure and portraits in oil, with work shown at Menlo Park City Hall and Sanchez Art Center, Pacifica. A love of travel became the source of paintings from the Western US, France, Mexico, and Bali.
